Skills are atomic, focused capabilities that extend what an AI agent can do. Each skill handles a specific task domain — like managing Apple Notes, fetching weather data, or interacting with a particular service — and can be composed together to build more powerful agent workflows.

While MCP servers provide standardized tool interfaces for AI agents, skills are higher-level, task-oriented modules that may combine multiple tools, APIs, or logic into a single cohesive capability. Skills focus on the 'what' (e.g., manage notes) while MCPs focus on the 'how' (e.g., the protocol for connecting).

Yes, skills are designed to be composable. You can equip an AI agent with multiple skills simultaneously — for example, combining a calendar skill with an email skill to create an agent that can schedule meetings and send invitations automatically.

The process depends on your agent platform. Most skills are available as packages you can install via npm or configure through your agent's settings. Each skill listing on Agent Hub includes setup instructions, required configurations, and compatibility information.
